Centenary College President Dr. Kenneth L. Hoyt

Dr. Kenneth L. Hoyt relinquished the position of president of The Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges, Inc (OFIC) in Columbus, OH after 16 years to become president of Centenary College in August 2001.

Accomplishments of Dr. Hoyt include instituting OFIC's first strategic planning process, establishing the OFIC Institute for Higher Education Transformation and the OFIC Cooperative Corporation to develop new forms of cost savings and revenue enhancing collaboratives for Ohio's independent colleges.

In addition, Dr. Hoyt provided leadership to the Midwest Partnership of Independent Colleges to conduct market research, develop positioning strategies, and collaboratively raise marketing funds for the 200 independent colleges in the Midwest. He raised more than $65 million for the operational, programmatic, and scholarship needs of Ohio's students in independent colleges during his tenure at OFIC.

Between the years of 1983 and 1985, Dr. Hoyt held the position of vice president for institutional advancement at The University of Akron in Ohio, where he oversaw a successful $50 million campus-wide capital campaign and implemented a comprehensive strategic marketing plan tailored to the organization and its academic unit strategic planning process.

Dr. Hoyt was also the director of public relations, development and marketing at Ohio Presbyterian Retirement Services in Columbus, Ohio between the years of 1975 and 1983, the director of development at Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio from 1974 through 1975 and the director of career planning and placement and the field experience program at Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, OH between 1970 and 1974.

Dr. Hoyt holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Baldwin-Wallace College, a master of arts degree at The Ohio State University in Columbus and a Ph.D. from Ohio University in Athens.
