History Degree at Centenary College

The History program at Centenary College combines a strong foundation in Western Civilization with specialized study in American studies.

History majors learn to develop a multidisciplinary perspective on the study of world cultures through course work in:

  • History
  • Literature
  • Sociology
  • Political Science
  • Geography
  • Religion
  • Economics

Students develop skills in theoretical and chronological analysis, identification of historical methods and techniques, critical thinking about civilizations and their impact on the future, and developing an experiential base for a life plan.

Teacher Certification in History

Students who wish to become teachers may pursue certification through Centenary's Teacher Certification program, in which Education courses are carefully integrated into the History curriculum.

History Minor

Students interested in completing a minor in history must complete 16 credits in history.
