Academic Scholarships for Traditional Undergraduate Students

Centenary College offers a variety of scholarships to our Freshmen and Transfer students. We offer a wide range of options that make available the greatest amount of financial assistance to the broadest number of students.

All prospective students will be considered, regardless of financial need.  The number of awards in each category is limited.  Preference will be given to early applicants.

Annual scholarships may be offered to entering freshmen who have a minimum of 2.5 academic GPA and a minimum 850 critical reading and math score on the SAT.

These scholarships are renewable provided the student shows evidence of good citizenship and demonstrates satisfactory progress toward their degree.

Achievement Awards

Achievement Awards are awarded to entering freshmen who have done well in a strong academic high school program and who have competitive SAT or ACT scores.

Centenary College Freddy Scholarship

2010 Centenary College Freddy Scholarships consist of  a $10,000 Annual Scholarship for students who major in Theatre and is renewable for an additional six semesters provided the student is making satisfactory academic progress.  The Scholarships are automatically awarded to the student(s) who win in each of the following awards categories, apply to and are accepted to Centenary College:

  • Outstanding Overall Production of a Musical
  • Outstanding Overall Production of a Musical by a Smaller School
  • Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role
  • Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role
  • Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role
  • Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role
  • Outstanding Performance by a Featured Male Ensemble Member
  • Outstanding Performance by a Featured Female Ensemble Member
  • Outstanding Performance by a Chorus
  • Outstanding Featured Performance by an Actor
  • Outstanding Featured Performance by an Actress
  • Outstanding Production Number
  • Outstanding Performance by an Orchestra
  • Outstanding Performance by a Featured Dancer

Leadership Awards

Our leadership award is given to applicants with a minimum 2.0 GPA who have demonstrated leadership ability or potential. An annual community service project is required. Students must reside on campus. Learn more about Community Service at Centenary College.

Merit Scholarships

Merit scholarships are awarded to entering freshmen who have shown excellent academic achievement.

Presidential Scholarships

Presidential Scholarships are the most prestigious scholarships offered to entering freshmen who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance.

Transfer Scholarships and Awards

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarships

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarships are awarded to entering transfer students who have earned the distinction of Phi Theta Kappa membership, and who have a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA.  Students must have at least 32 credits of full-time study remaining towards the Centenary degree.

Transfer Awards

Transfer Awards may be awarded to entering transfer students who have a cumulative 2.5 GPA. Students must have a minimum of 32 credits of full-time study remaining towards their degree.

Special Scholarships and Awards

United Methodist Academic Scholarships

Centenary College is historically related to the United Methodist Church. We make the United Methodist Academic Scholarship available to students who are confirmed, active members of the Methodist Church.

Centenary College offers fifteen scholarships with individual awards up to $12,500 each year. These scholarships are renewable for up to four years provided the student maintains satisfactory academic progress.
