Description  YMCA Camp Bernie in Port Murray, NJ is seeking energetic and engaging individuals for part-time Program Instructor positions this
fall. An ideal candidate loves the outdoors, working with children and adults, and has a strong appreciation for and understanding
of our natural environment. Strong skills in customer service is preferred. Work, volunteer, or educational experience in
environmental studies, education, camping or recreation is a plus; as well as certification in CPR, First Aid, Archery, and/or

Description  YMCA Camp Bernie sits within the Schooley Mountains in the northernmost area of Hunterdon County, New Jersey; approximately 1.5
hours from New York City. The camp sits on 275 acres of hilly forests and beautiful streams feeding the Musconetcong River. The
surrounding areas
include an additional 500 acres of protected county park property including trails and outdoor opportunities in our own backyard.
The summer months are warm during the day and cool at night with a refreshing mountain breeze.
The Ridgewood YMCA and Association offices are located in Bergen County, New Jersey, approximately 1.25 hours from YMCA Camp Bernie

YMCA Camp Bernie’s property was settled in 1872 as a working farm owned by Peter Lance. The land changed owners multiple times
before being purchased as a summer gathering home in 1941 by Leonard Goldstein, who re-named the property Idalu Acres. In 1956, the
Ridgewood YMCA bought 248 acres and named the camp after Bernard Forester, in thanks to his work with the community and children.

Maple, Birch, the Wellness Center and Cabin 3 were all original homes for the Goldstein family to host friends and family. The main
house was originally constructed in 1865 and the dining hall was barn, converted by the Ridgewood Y in 1957.

Since opening YMCA Camp Bernie, the Ridgewood YMCA has constructed Turrell Lodge, Jaqua Lodge, the Hill cabins, the Main Office and
the Executive Director’s house. An additional 30 acres of property were later purchased from the opposite side of Turkey Top Road.

Camp Bernie has been in continuous operation since 1957 and serves over 15,000 guests annually through Outdoor Education, Group
Rentals and our traditional overnight and day summer camp programs.
