Position Information

Title  Children’s Counselor-Advocate (FT, Permanent)
Description  The Children’s Counselor-Advocate will be responsible for providing crisis intervention, individual and group counseling, advocacy, and accompaniment on behalf of teen
and child victims/survivors. S/he will implement shelter programming and community services for children and teens. S/he will conduct advocacy with systems in order to
bring about change on behalf of victims/survivors as a whole. S/he will educate various communities as to the dynamics and issues related to domestic violence and sexual
assault.

Required 
Skills 
Successful candidate will have experience in crisis work, professional documentation skills, ability to facilitate group and counseling activities from an empowerment model,
and ability to advocate on behalf of victims/survivors in community systems. Completion of Pennsylvania’s domestic violence and sexual assault crisis intervention training
is necessary for employment. Bachelor’s degree in Social Services or related field preferred. Federal and State police and child abuse clearances will be conducted.

Description  Women’s Resources of Monroe County (WRMC) currently has an opening for a Children’s Counselor-Advocate. WRMC’s mission to end domestic violence and sexual assault
in our community provides victims in crisis a community resource that is available to them 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, and 365 days per year. The crisis hotline is
staffed by trained volunteers and staff members in accordance to industry standards. The 24 hour crisis hotline serves as the initial client contact for crisis intervention
which may take the form of crisis counseling, hospital accompaniment, and/or legal advocacy. Women, children and men have trusted our expertise and sought out our
services when in need of crisis emergency sheltering, 24 hour hotline support, counseling, legal or medical advocacy. Vital members of community businesses, faith
communities, schools, university settings and human service professionals seek our qualified personnel for prevention, education, outreach and supportive services. WRMC
is a non-profit organization located in the Poconos.
